Department of Economics

Body: 

HistoryThe Department of Economics, as the mother of the current courses constituting the Faculty of Economics and Management, is started its work in 1991 with the admission of 40 students in the field of economics (business economics). This department started accepting students in the master's degree program in 1997, and since 2012, it has started accepting students in the PhD program in economics. 

Fields

Now at the undergraduate, master's and PhD students are studying in the fields below:

Undergraduate level: At present, due to the latest changes in the fields approved by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the Department of Economics is accepting students in the undergraduate level as the field of economics. The department accepted postgraduate students in the past years in the field of Theoretical and Business Economics.

Master level: Theoretical Economics, Development Economics and Islamic Banking. The department will accept postgraduate students in the upcoming years in the field of Islamic Financial  Economics. The department accepted postgraduate students in the past 2 years in the field of Islamic Economics and Energy Economics.

PhD level: Financial Economics, Development Economics, Econometrics, International Economics.

 

Goals

The purpose of this department of accepting and training students in the field of economics is to train experts who, by obtaining general and comprehensive information in the field of economics, can:   

1.Get public jobs in the public, cooperative and private sectors.   

2.Gain sufficient capacity to acquire specialized skills so that they can be employed in occupations that require professional technical specializations (banks, insurance, specialized commercial and financial companies, etc.).   

3.Gain sufficient scientific capacity to continue their studies at higher levels and acquire the necessary skills to work as an economic researcher. 

Duties

In order to achieve the above goals, the Economics Department intends to:   

1.Develop the department's postgraduate courses based on the needs of the labor market.     

2.Interact scientific and technical interaction with the economics departments of domestic and foreign universities to hold conferences, specialized meetings and lecture sessions for students.     

3. Strengthen its interaction with the executive and the private sector.
