Department of Water Engineering
The department of water engineering is one of the oldest departments in Urmia University. It is one of the main departments of Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resource. The department of water engineering has great importance in developing the cycle of agricultural and industrial development in West Azerbaijan that reflects the effects of the irrigation and water resources as well as hydraulic structures engineering in all plans of the development. Department plays main rule in restoration project of Urmia Lake. The most important fields of work for the water engineers are the design, establishment, maintenance and the administration of different water instillations such as dams, weirs, river structures, developing modern irrigation systems and management of water resources as well study the environmental impacts of the water engineering projects.
Degrees:
B.Sc. program: One major; Water Engineering.
M.Sc. program: Three majors: Hydraulic Structures, Water Resources Engineering, Irrigation and Drainage.
Ph.D. program: Three majors: Hydraulic Structures, Water Resources Engineering, Irrigation and Drainage.

The department has 13 members consisting of 4 professors, 4 associate professors, 5 assistant professor
Students
Over 20 B.Sc., 24 M.Sc. and 12 Ph.D. students are enrolled in each year. Currently about 100 B.Sc., 50 M.Sc., and 60 Ph.D. students are studying in this department.
