International students of Urmia University shined at the Second Cultural and Sports Olympiad of Foreign students studying in Iran
The Second Cultural and Sports Olympiad of Foreign students studying in Iran officially started on Friday, July 19, with international students' futsal and volleyball competitions and continued until July 26.
This cultural and sports Olympiad was hosted by Imam Khomeini International University in Qazvin, and more than 1100 international students from 50 nationalities from 48 universities across Iran participated. International students competed in 10 fields including futsal, volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, chess, track and field, swimming, darts, and physical fitness in two divisions of boys and girls for a week in different sports venues with the slogan #sports_ a_common_language. On the sidelines of the competitions, various exhibitions of the culture and customs of the countries were also organized.
The sports caravan of international students of Urmia University participated in this Olympiad with 16 female and male athletes in the sports fields of table tennis, athletics, and chess.
Mr. Sajjad Farhan, an international student of Urmia University, won the gold medal in the weight throw event and in the field of table tennis, in doubles, the women's team of Urmia University with the combination of Zainab Sarhan and Zainab Birer won the third place and the bronze medal of the tournament.
