New Chancellor Appointed for Urmia University

 

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Rezazadeh Bari was appointed as the Chancellor of Urmia University by Prof. Dr. Hossein Simaee Sarraf, Iran’s Minister of Science, Research, and Technology. In the official appointment decree, the Minister urged Prof. Rezazad to “fulfill his duties with distinction by adhering to Islamic principles, scientific foundations, the national unity government’s strategies, and through collaboration with academics and experts.” He added, “We pray for your continued success and prosperity through the grace of Almighty God.”

In a separate letter, Dr. Simaee acknowledged the contributions of Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alijanpour, the outgoing chancellor, thanking him for his dedicated service to the university.

Prof. Dr. Rezazad Bari, born in 1962, is a tenured professor at Urmia University. He completed his bachelor’s degree at Urmia University, a master’s at the University of Tehran, and earned his PhD from Pune University in India. Over his career, he has held key administrative roles, including Head of Jihad University’s West Azerbaijan Branch, Deputy for Administrative and Financial Affairs of Urmia University, Deputy for Cultural and Student Affairs of Urmia University, Dean of the University of Applied Science and Technology- Urmia Cultural Heritage Branch, and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Urmia University.

His academic and research portfolio includes 150 peer-reviewed articles in English and Persian, 120 conference papers, 4 authored books, 2 registered patents, and the completion of 4 industry-linked research projects.
